FRSC are Bet9ja NLO Super 8 Champions
Federal Road Safety Corps Football Club of Abuja Saturday won the Bet9ja Nationwide League One Super 8 Tournament.
The tournament which took place at Agege Stadium among the eight clubs that gained promotion to National League was hailed by many as one of the best so far. A lot of emphasis were on the quality of football played by the teams and the level of competitiveness that came along with it.
FRSC defeated AS Racine 3-2 on penalties after the full time ended 1-1 to win the trophy of the championship played in front of impressive crowd.
The Safety Shooters outfit silenced the Victor Okechukwu Agali, tutored side in a pulsating finals to emerge winners.
FRSC opened the score sheet in the 8th minute through Kenneth Mamah, cool finish. 79′ Penalty to AS RACINE after an infringement on the Lagos-based player.
Inspirational midfielder Stephen Anyanwu, equalized for AS Racine from the penalty spot in the 79th minute.
Thereafter, FRSC and AS Racine both dictated pace but both did enough to held up all the while ensuring the encounter was decided via penalty shootout.
Meanwhile, AS Racine inspiring midfielder, Stephen Anyanwu, was voted the Most Valuable Player, while FRSC goalkeeper, Stephen Azubuike, was voted the Best Goalkeeper of the championship.
