The Nationwide League One (NLO) has congratulated the newly elected Executive Board Committee of the Nigeria Association of Sports Medicine (NASMED).
The 12-man NASMED Executive Board was inaugurated at the boardroom of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos last Friday, after they were elected during the online election that took place on 13th June 2024 to run the affairs of the group for the next four years.
Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the nation’s third-tier league Olushola Ogunnowo in his congratulatory message.
“Congratulations to our Medical Consultant, Dr. Olajide Joseph Adebola and his NASMED Executive Board. His election and that of other members who make up the board, is undoubtedly deserving and intelligent to get honest, experienced and broad-based professionals to oversee the Nigeria Association of Sports Medicine.
“This will progressively re-engineer Sports Medicine in Nigeria, as I applaud members of the association for voting for these fit and proper professionals with unquestionable pedigree and remarkable achievements.
“Having Dr. Olajide Joseph Adebola as our consultant, shows we care about football, about the game. And that’s why, obviously, we care as well about everyone who is involved in the game, in particular the players,” the NLO egg-head said.
“As we know, football like other sports helps to prevent heart diseases, cancer and diabetes and can also improve the mental health and well-being of our players, that’s why the health of our players is important to the NLO. ”
The newly elected executive members are Dr Olajide Joseph Adebola, FAPH (President); Dr Adebukola Oluwarotimi Bojuwoye (1st Vice President); Dr Ummukulthoum Bakare (2nd Vice President); Dr Ibrahim Tijjani (3rd Vice President); and Dr Francis Obinnaya Udugwu, who emerged as the Secretary General of NASMED, with Dr Mariam Mkpo Odu serving as the Assistant Secretary.
Others are Dr PT Judith Amaka Enebe (Treasurer); Dr Kenechukwu John Aneze (Financial Secretary); Dr Babatunde John Akinbinu (Publicity Secretary); Dr Sunday Onimisi (Ex-Officio 1); and Dr Mazeed Alaba (Ex-Officio 2), while the immediate past President, Prof. Olatunde Makanju, completes the Exco board list as the Ex-Officio 3.
