Former President of Nigeria Football Association now Federation (NFA) Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima has given credit to organizers of the Nationwide League One (NLO) for a near-perfect season kickoff.

The Kano Derby between Kano Pillars Jrn and arch-rival Kwankwasiyya FC at  Sani Abacha Stadium, which ended in a one-all draw to the delight of over 5,000 fans that caught a glimpse of the thriller, was a star fixture of Matchday One.

Galadima, the acting chairman of Kano Pillars said after the game: “It’s heartwarming that Kano hosted the NLO opening 2023 season fixture, which was between and my presence at the game is my way of showing appreciation to the nation’s third-tier league body for this honour.

“The season has started on a good note as it’s important to see the development of the Nationwide League One.

“Much emphasis has been placed on the country’s top-flight league but I think, we should put more support to the NNL and NLO in other to produce more players that will in the future graduate into the NPFL and various national teams.

“Today’s logistics has been near perfect, we are looking forward to seeing more of such progress that will end bring about more development of Nigerian football.

“The size of the NLO, with the number of teams, is so intimidating, that it will take a lot of organization and commitment to get things done.

“It’s fascinating that the NLO Secretariat is been able to get things done at a top level, so am delighted with the smooth season kickoff.”
