The board and management of Nationwide League One (NLO) has commiserated with the leadership of Anambra state football association over the death of Chief Chukwunonso Udala, the proprietor of Udala FC.
Late Chief Udala was killed when gunmen attacked his convoy on Tuesday and this tragic news has thrown the football fraternity into mourning judging by his contribution of the late philanthropist to the development of football in Anambra state and Nigeria at large.
Mohammed Alkali, the chairman of NLO said that he received the news of the untimely death of Udala with great shock, adding that his contribution to the grassroot football is worthy of note and he will be greatly missed.
“We condole with his family. His wife and children. We pray for God to comfort and strengthen them at this tragic period of immense loss of a loved one,” Mohammed Alkali said.
“This is a very sad incident. A very shocking one and we pray that God will give his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear this great loss.
“He will be greatly missed. He had a strong passion to see football develop in his community, his state and Nigeria as a whole. His establishment of Udala Fc remained a model for a football club at the grassroot football,” he said.
